About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization's data protection strategy. As a Chief Data Protection Strategist, you will be responsible for leading privacy by design reviews of projects, products, events, or initiatives, incorporating data privacy principles into those initiatives. You will provide data privacy advice to internal and external stakeholders, supporting rapid solutioning to meet identified needs. Your key tasks will include:

  • Leading privacy by design reviews of projects, products, events, or initiatives, incorporating data privacy principles into those initiatives.
  • Providing data privacy advice to internal and external stakeholders, in support of rapid-solutioning to meet identified needs.
  • Supporting contract negotiations on an as-needed basis to review data privacy contractual provisions with partners and third-party suppliers, such as data processing agreements and data transfer agreements.
  • Conducting or overseeing legal research. Interpreting and applying a risk-based assessment of how legal requirements affect new projects, products, events, or initiatives.
  • Maintaining awareness of technological developments, changes in the law, and enforcement trends, and their impact on data privacy in the world of football.
  • Developing guidance, awareness, and training as needed for internal and external audiences.
  • Building and maintaining strong and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively working with cross-functional teams in on-site and remote locations, in an engaged, business-focused, and pragmatic manner.
About You

We seek talented individuals with a law degree and CIPP/CIPM/CIPT certification, demonstrating at least 5 years of experience in a data privacy function within a major law firm or a multinational corporation. Strong substantive knowledge of EEA/CH/US/BR privacy and security laws, as well as a working knowledge of international privacy and data protection laws, is essential. Additionally, we require:

  • Experience and expertise with conducting privacy by design reviews.
  • Prior role in providing data privacy legal guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in monitoring privacy trends and developments and translating those into actionable guidance or requirements.
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical advice to stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively conduct privacy reviews, and provide business-focused advice as a trusted partner.
  • Proven ability to develop vision, operationalize, and implement strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, understand, and assess trends and developments in data privacy, explain issues in a practical, results-focused manner.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface, and develop relationships, and work cross-culturally.
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to articulate the organization's vision, and to seek out areas of risk and priority.
  • Ability to consistently apply good judgment and prioritize.
  • English required, French, Spanish, and/or German a plus.
