Job Description

As an Electrical Operations Manager at MSC Cruises, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, and secure supervision of electrical equipment throughout the ship. This includes collaborating with the Chief A.C. Technician, Chief Plumber, and Chief Fitter to ensure all electrical operations and maintenance activities are performed effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult daily with the Staff Engineer on methods and procedures for maintaining and upgrading electrical equipment onboard.
  • Assign and supervise maintenance and repair duties to electricians, ensuring work is executed properly and efficiently.
  • Inspect ongoing projects, guaranteeing that manpower is utilized to its fullest extent and no wastage of materials occurs.
  • Supervise the use of appropriate materials for maintenance, ensuring required safety for personnel and equipment.
  • Train personnel assigned to the engine watch (especially new recruits) to follow safe working practices, ensuring they understand functions and adhere to established standards.
  • Prepare requisitions and spare parts, submitting them to the Staff Engineer for approval.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Fluency in oral and written English, as well as Italian; knowledge of additional foreign languages is a significant advantage.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent, along with relevant licenses from a certified Technical Institute.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the same position on board international cruise ships.
  • Proficiency in using Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent supervisory skills, crisis management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Physical integrity to perform tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and moving objects up to 25 kg.
  • STCW95 trainings, including Basic Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, Elementary First Aid, and Personal Security Awareness.
