Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and other Control Systems for Energy from Waste (EfW) and Renewable Gas (RG) plants.
  • Develop cable engineering solutions for EfW and RG plants.
  • Prepare technical specifications for components and systems, evaluate bids, and select suppliers.
  • Ensure timely ordering of systems and supervise suppliers throughout the project implementation phase.
  • Prepare and review control system hardware design documents, including cabinet layout drawings, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and termination drawings.
  • Engineer and select field instruments for EfW and RG plants, including preparation of hook-up drawings.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing of control systems.
  • Ensure completeness of CAE lists related to products, including signal exchange lists and I/O lists.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in preparing and defending claims.
  • Coordinate with other project team members and package unit suppliers.
  • Support the tendering and commissioning team.
  • Assist the Manager in developing and implementing department strategies.
  • Support the Manager in developing and documenting efficient work processes, lessons learned, and improvement practices.
  • Support other Automation Engineers in resolving DCS-related technical matters.
  • Coach and train entry-level members and other Automation Engineers.
  • Review technical specifications and RfQ documentation to ensure accuracy and conformance with codes and client specifications.
  • Participate in project risk assessments, including HAZOP, SIL assessment, and Cyber Security Risk Assessment.
  • Lead design review meetings with customers and suppliers.
  • Be willing to travel approximately 10%.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in engineering Control Systems, preferably in power plant applications.
  • Good knowledge of various bus communication protocols, including Profibus, Profinet, ModbusTCP, IEC104, and OPC.
  • Good knowledge of field instrumentation and measuring principles for pressure, temperature, level, and flow.
  • Functional Safety Engineer certificate is an advantage.
  • Cyber Security Engineer certificate is an advantage.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented approach, ability to make decisions.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Fluency in English, German, and other languages are an advantage.
  • Commissioning and operational experience is an advantage.
  • Experience with design of instruments and cables in ATEX environment is an advantage.

Competence in Working Methods

  • Good MS Office user knowledge.
  • Knowledge of CAE Tools, including Comos.
  • High degree of understanding of quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of Electrical engineering tools, including EPLAN and Siemens SIMARIS.
  • Project Management knowledge is an advantage.
