**About the Project**
The postdoc position is part of an SNSF Starting grant project and an international collaboration called GLOMUS. The project aims to understand how the gut microbiota co-evolved with their mammalian hosts using computational and experimental approaches. The researcher will have the freedom to choose between two research axes: computational focus or experimental focus.
In the computational focus, the researcher will leverage large metagenomic datasets and use comparative genomics approaches to measure the extent of gut microbes and their mammalian host co-diversification for millions of years. In the experimental focus, the researcher will isolate, whole-genome sequence, and phenotypically characterize gut bacteria from wild micro-mammals.
