The British Embassy in Berne, part of a global network representing British interests overseas, seeks a Residence Intern to join its team.

This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in a high-quality environment and support the team responsible for managing and running official functions at the Ambassador's residence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with event planning and execution, including preparing rooms, tables, and mise en place for official guests.
  • Support the Head of Housekeeping & Service with administration tasks and deputise during absences.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to prepare for events and complete administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to housekeeping duties and decorations at the residence.
  • Manage IT and sound systems.
  • Co-ordinate the annual King's Birthday Party Reception, including sending invitations and updating guest lists.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English (B2 level) according to the CEFR framework or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in a hotel or events setting.
  • Outgoing and welcoming nature, with experience dealing with people in a friendly manner.
  • A 'can-do' attitude and strong teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of basic food service principles, housekeeping functions, and food preparation standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in German and/or French (B2 level) according to the CEFR framework or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of the hospitality industry and willingness to share expertise with the team.
