**OpenStack Cloud Architect (M/F/x)**
**60-100 %**:Science IT (S3IT) is a central unit at the University of Zurich that provides and supports IT infrastructure and services for researchers. We maintain a large OpenStack cloud deployment, a CEPH storage system with multiple petabytes of storage, as well as GPU computing resources. Our goal is to offer access to hardware that is tailored to the needs of research and provide consulting services to allow our customers to optimize the usage of the tools and resources available to them.
**Your responsibilities**:
As a senior cloud architect, it will be your job to design the next generation of our OpenStack private cloud deployment. You will take a leading role in the development and engineering and work closely with the rest of the team on the entire cloud stack. Further, you will guide other staff in the daily operations of the centralized scientific IT infrastructure at the University of Zurich.
Your responsibility will include
- the design of a new large scale OpenStack cloud infrastructure
- coordinate and lead the development and deployment of the new system
- support researchers with their technical challenges on a daily basis
- contribute to the daily administration and monitoring tasks
**Your profile**:
You have a strong background in Linux systems administration as well as an understanding of advanced Ethernet networking and TCP/IP including VLANs and routing. You have worked extensively with cloud technologies including OpenStack and CEPH and are comfortable automating repetitive tasks using Bash, ansible, Python or other scripting languages and tools. You have used version control systems such as git to organize and track changes to your work. You are familiar with tools to automate system configuration tasks (cfengine, ansible, puppet, etc.). You can quickly identify potential problems and have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot. You can communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
