Cochlea-Implantate bergen grosses Potenzial für die Behandlung hörgeschädigter Menschen. Die Implantation selbst stellt jedoch aufgrund der begrenzten visuellen und haptischen Rückmeldung eine erhebliche Herausforderung dar. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden im vorliegenden Projekt Werkzeuge zur Echtzeitüberwachung des Implantationsprozesses mithilfe externer Sensorik entwickelt. Dadurch sollen Chirurginnen und Chirurgen die notwendigen Informationen erhalten, um im Operationssaal fundierte Entscheidungen treffen zu können. Unser Hauptziel besteht darin, die Platzierung des Implantats atraumatischer durchzuführen und somit eine Verbesserung der Hörergebnisse zu erzielen.
Das Projekt ist eine Kollaboration zwischen dem Hörforschungslabor am Artorg Center for Biomedical Engineering Research (Universität Bern) und der Universitätsklinik für Hals, Nasen
- und Ohrenkrankheiten, Kopf
- und Halschirurgie (Inselspital Bern).
Aufgaben
In enger Zusammenarbeit mit einem interdisziplinären Team aus Fachkräften der Medizin, Ingenieurwissenschaften und Physik entwickeln Sie Werkzeuge zur sensorischen Überwachung der Lage des Cochlea-Implantats und der Auswirkung des chirurgischen Vorgangs auf intracochleäre Strukturen. Ihre Aufgaben umfassen die Erstellung eines Anforderungskatalogs, die Entwicklung von Prototypen, die Durchführung von Validierungsstudien sowie die Veröffentlichung der Ergebnisse in internationalen Fachzeitschriften.
Anforderungen
- MSc in Biomedical Engineering, Maschinenbau, Elektrotechnik, Physik oder einem verwandten Fachgebiet
- Erfahrung in Planung und Durchführung wissenschaftlicher Versuche
- Statistische Kenntnisse und Programmierfähigkeiten für wissenschaftliche Zwecke (Python)
- Motiviert in einem interdisziplinären Forschungsfeld zusammenzuarbeiten
- Kenntnisse über chirurgische Instrumente und medizinische Sensorik / Messgeräte sind von Vorteil
