The analytical development organization in Schaffhausen provides highly specialized and unique support in the areas of marketed products, fills finish pilot plant analytics and device characterization. In this organization, we are offering an outstanding opportunity for a

**Sr. Associate Scientist (100%)**

In this position you are responsible for supporting and further developing the center of excellence (CoE) in the field of material identification and characterization. Your scientific dedication and customer focus are critical to ensure high-quality, scientifically profound and timely investigations in a dynamic R&D and commercial setting. After a thorough on-the-job training you will be responsible for conducting particle investigations using highly specialized and state of the art technologies such as light-microscopy, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy. You will also be responsible for writing technical investigation reports in a GMP regulated environment. In addition, you will participate in meetings to provide analytical updates.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for execution and documentation of particle analyses
- Supporting and further developing the center of excellence (CoE) for particle / material identification and characterization including glass fracture analysis
- Working with high-end equipment such as Raman, FTIR- and various types of light microscopes
- Compliance with GMP, EHS and SOX requirements and guidelines associated with the respective function.
- Performing special tasks in accordance with the list of responsibilities (e.g., instruments, maintenance)
- Handling of special analytical tasks in accordance with the annual target agreement.
- Continuous training and education.
- Drafting internal laboratory related documents (e.g., workflows, guidance, administration)
- Carrying out particle ID analyses and preparing the associated analysis documentation.
- Informing the team manager of deviating results and problems.
- Issuance and qualification of analysis methods.
- Competence for review and approval of analysis data according to WIs.
- Creation of work instructions (WIs, SOPs).
- Coordination of system-relevant laboratory administration tasks such as SAP
- Understanding the process and urgency of conducting complex investigations in the CoE
- Excellent German and robust English communication skills with internal and external customers
- Writing scientifically sound and concise investigation reports and preparing presentations in English
- Working in a team-oriented environment and actively living a culture of diversity and inclusion

**Profile**:
For this position we are looking for an experienced, flexible and team oriented person with excellent communication and negotiation skills as well as the following hard skills:

- Laboratory technician or Bachelor of Science with at least three years of practical experience in material science, analytical or pharmaceutical sciences
- Experienced in analytical development or material science, ideally in a pharmaceutical or other GMP regulated industry
- High customer focus and communication skills with internal and external partners (written and spoken).
- A good sense of urgency combined with a mindset of effective and efficient execution of investigations
