Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Psychology, Computer Science, or Behavioral Economics or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with qualitative methods, and integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
- Research experience in enterprise/business software, developer tools, IT, or other complex systems.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience with privacy and/or security.
- Ability to select appropriate methods that fit the question at hand, and where appropriate, an ability to triangulate results across multiple data sets.
- Ability to understand complex technical requirements and distill them into a usable design.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects.

User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers who care deeply about the people who use our products. As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you’ll help your team of UXers, product managers, and engineers understand user needs. You’ll play a critical role in creating useful, usable, and delightful products. Working with stakeholders across functions and levels, you'll have impact at all stages of product development. You’ll explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis.

The UXR community at Google is unique and will help you do your best work. You’ll have the opportunity to work with and learn from UXRs across Google through regular meetups, mentor programs, and access to internal research tools.

**Responsibilities**:

- Proactively scoping and executing research that gives us a strong, strategic understanding of unique, highly technical user groups.
- Partnering closely with fellow UX, Product and Engineering partners to understand existing research needs, and crafting and executing studies that address these priorities.
- Evangelizing and communicating research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations. Making research findings convincing and actionable.
- Providing a strong user-focused point-of-view in product discussions, design reviews, and strategic research planning.
- Helping to cultivate a culture of user advocacy and product excellence.
