Continental Coordinator Asia

For our International Programmes department (IP) based in Zurich and Bern, we are looking for a result-oriented and dynamic individual to join our organisation as per **June 1, 2024** or upon agreement.

As the Continental Coordinator for Asia, you combine the coordination at head office level for two country programmes and leading a small team of regional coordinators responsible for country programmes in Asia. You are an active member of the management team of International Programmes and contribute to overarching organisational strategies.

**YOUR MAIN TASKS**:

- You ensure the development and operation of the country programmes in Laos and Bangladesh at head office level in close collaboration with the Helvetas’ representatives in the countries. You operate within the organisational policy, strategy and management frameworks, and you are responsible that they are implemented effectively and efficiently. You orient and contribute to successful acquisitions and ensure the financial sustainability of the programmes and projects. You are well linked with a broad range of stakeholders with whom you develop and maintain regular professional relationships. Furthermore, you make sure that the country offices have sufficient qualified international and regional personnel who are managed in line with the regulations of the organisation.
- You oversee the portfolio of country programmes in Asia and ensure that the programmes develop according to defined thematic and financial plans. You lead and coach the team of regional coordinators responsible for other Helvetas country programmes on the continent. You coordinate team exchanges, contribute to the smooth operations of the Asian country programmes and foster regional cooperation. You ensure that the experiences of the Asian programmes are well communicated and contribute to the organisational learning and a good reputation of Helvetas.

**YOUR QUALIFICATIONS**:

- University degree: Masters or post-graduate degree in development studies
- At least 8 years in a management position in development cooperation, including several years of long-term assignments in the frame of development cooperation, preferably in Asia.
- Experience in strategic and programmatic planning and solid project cycle management competences as well as programme budgeting and reporting
- Proven track record in leadership and strong capacities in empowering others and motivating individuals and teams
- Effective networker, able to build productive and sustained relationships
- Solid track record in acquisition
- High analytical and conceptual capacities with a strong interest for overarching organisational questions
- You are a strong communicator and an engaging personality with intercultural skills and with sensitivity for cultural and gender issues
- Fluent in English and possibly in German/French
- Interested in travelling to the partner countries about two times/year
