The laboratory of Dr. Ludovic Mure in the Department of Ophthalmology of the Inselspital at the
ophthalmology and neuroscience. Light has a profound impact on physiology and behavior;
besides vision, it also mediates a set of non-visual responses including the resetting of the
circadian clock, the regulation of alertness, sleep, mood, or the pupillary constriction. The project
aims at elucidating the circuits by which light regulates non-visual responses and at evaluating
the impact of retinal disorders on these responses. We will use an interdisciplinary approach
coupling neuroscience methods and transcriptomics to gain a better understanding of the
mechanisms and circuits by which light affects the brain.

The Mure Lab is located in the Department of Ophthalmology of the Inselspital at the University
of Bern. The Inselspital offers a unique translational environment supported by strong
interactions between clinical and experimental laboratories. This project will benefit from the
collaboration established with the Center for Experimental Neurology at the Inselspital
University Hospital.

Tasks and Requirements

neuroscience, eye biology, or related fields. Applicants with previous experience in molecular

and cellular neurosciences, rodent stereotaxic surgery, optogenetics, in vitro/vivo

electrophysiology, in vivo calcium imaging, or behavioral analysis (e.g., sleep, instrumental

learning, reward, fear learning, etc.) or computational skills are strongly encouraged to apply.

Experience with programming is a strong asset (Matlab, R). Excellent written and oral

communication skills, the ability to work independently and together with a research team, and

the aptitude to mentor undergraduate and graduate students are also necessary attributes.
