For our international partner, Roche Diagnostics International Ltd. based in Rotkreuz, we are looking for a qualified and motivated **Organoid Automation Scientist** for 2 years with option for extension.

The Automation Scientist for the Roche Institute for Translational Bioengineering (ITB) will support the establishment of a newly formed initiative in pRED whose goal is to disrupt the traditional drug discovery process through innovation/big and bold ideas focused on advancing our ability to use more predictive human model systems. The automation scientist will contribute to the prototyping of human in-vitro cultures on a robotic platform. As a member of multidisciplinary team, she/he will design, evaluate and deploy state-of-the-art in-vitro culture protocols in a lab framework. The Automation Scientist will work in close collaboration with other researchers to develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for the culturing of in-vitro models. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in supporting the creation and growth of a new and exciting institute that brings together scientists and engineers from around the world.
**Tasks**:
- Survey scientific literature for state-of-the-art organoid culture protocols
- Implement, adapt and improve existing organoid culture protocols on the robotic platform
- Develop SOPs to be implemented in an organoid manufacturing facility
- Contribute to the improvement of existing automation procedures
- Assist other research groups in the development and implementation of new procedures and in the evaluation of new products and equipment
- Assume responsibility for the accuracy, quality and timeliness of organoid farming and phenotyping activities
- Participate in the planning and organization of experiments in collaboration with the team
- Assist in the preparation of experimental protocols, investigations and reports as appropriate
- Train, mentor, or supervise junior scientists within the work team
**Must Haves**:
- MSc or PhD in biology, biochemistry or biomedical engineering and experience in automation
- Minimum 3 years of experience in automation, preferable using liquid handlers or bioreactor systems
- Experience with liquid handlers (hamilton devices preferred) and with integration systems
- Good programming skills (Python, C++, Liquid handler workflows, etc ).
- You have good English communication skills and love to work collaboratively in an international team
**Nice to Haves**:
- Experience with organoids or in-vitro biological systems
- Experience with bioreactors
- Experience with scheduling software
- Experience with image analysis and machine learning algorithms
- Experience with high content imaging microscopes
