At the Institute of Sport Science of the University of Bern, a doctoral position is to be filled on February 1, 2024 (or by appointment) in the Department of Health Science with a focus on climate change, biodiversity and environmental degradation, physical activity and human health in the urban context within the GoGreenNext Project.
About the Project
GoGreenNext is a EU-funded (supported by SERI in Switzerland) Horizon Europe project which will future proof urban health across Europe and North America.
Its multidisciplinary consortium of 19 partners will pursue a transdisciplinary approach to advance research and innovation to support the development of evidence-based policy at city, national, and global levels, to accelerate our efforts to address the challenges of climate change, biodiversity and environmental degradation, physical activity and human health in the urban context.
Urban Pilot Areas encompass four biogeographic regions and include Cork City (Ireland), Klagenfurt (Austria), Paijat Hame Region (Finland) and Malta. The interdisciplinary partnership includes seven EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Canada and the United States.

Aufgaben

The job holder will work in the GoGreenNext Project which is housed the Department of Health Science. Specific tasks include:

- Select and design the multidimensional health indicators to be used in the city pilots based on scientific literature and a cocreation approach with citizens.
- Develop a novel method of surveying citizens and engaging with them at local and national level based on a multi-dimensional health approach.
- Data collection, cleaning, preparation, and analysis.
- Participate in manuscript writing and publishing of measurement and data-based results.

Anforderungen
- Master's degree in behavioral or social sciences, psychology, public health, or a related field
- Committed to working across disciplinary boundaries.
- Good knowledge of statistical analysis (e.g., multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling).
- Some knowledge of large-scale survey design and analysis
- Some knowledge of qualitative analysis
- Strong time and data management skills
- Pro-active and self-motivated.
- Active participation in the workgroup
- Very good English skills
- At least basic German skills
