Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) is a leading product development partnership (PDP) in the field of antimalarial drug research and development. Its mission is to reduce the burden of malaria in disease-endemic countries by discovering, developing and delivering new, effective and affordable antimalarial drugs.

Over the past two decades, MMV has worked with an extensive network of donors, private and public sector partners, experts and clinical centers in endemic countries to develop an outstanding portfolio of antimalarial projects.

Our portfolio is financed through funding support coming from government agencies, private and corporate foundations, international organizations, corporations and private individuals. Managing the accounting and financial reporting of grant agreements lies within MMV’s Finance department.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the effective and timely financial administration of assigned donor agreements and sub-agreements throughout the award life cycle
- Map out donor requirements and expectations and evaluate and develop financial accounting and reporting structures to ensure compliance
- Develop and monitor effective financial control mechanisms between MMV and sub-grantees
- Oversee the financial coordination of MMV and sub-grantees to ensure successful execution of grant process from pre-award to post-award.
- Manage the accounting, financial and administrative reporting and compliance to ensure timely financial reports on budget, forecasting process, spent, closing, etc. for assigned projects and grants
- Provide financial analysis, including budget variance analysis and analysis of commitments against spent, to support appropriate financial decisions
- Act as the focal point on finance management (including budgeting, reporting, audit, etc.) for specified grant agreements to internal project directors and donor relationship managers and to external sub-grantees or partners
- Work with programmatic project staff to comply with Donor’s requirements, oversee budget amendments and manage budget reporting.
- Prepare reconciliation and consolidation analysis related to grant and/or project milestones and at close-outs
- As necessary, take charge of the financial interactions with Donors: directly or in support of the Project Team
- Coordinate preparation for periodic audits on assigned grant agreements or sub-agreements and oversee the implementation and closure of audit findings and recommendations
- Share learnings and contribute to the improvement of the financial reporting and donor allocation process
- Support the donor relationship manager and project director in the preparation of financial information relating to new donor agreements where necessary

**Education and Experience**:

- A solid experience in financial grant reporting and compliance to enhance our capacities in that area is required.
- Master's degree in finance, financial controlling or business management
- Minimum 5 years of** **experience in financial management services covering financial analysis, reporting and control for a global multi-site headquarter organization is a must***
- Experience in budget development, planning, data consolidation and budget/spent monitoring
- Work experience in medical research and drug development or non-for-profit is a plus
- Sound expertise in developing financial processes (budgeting, forecasting and planning) and in implementing systems and processes

**Technical skills required**:

- Excellent conceptual analytical and evaluative skills and ability to conduct independent research and analysis, identifying issues, formulating options and making recommendation
- In-depth grasp of financial and accounting principles and practices
- Understanding of audit requirements
- Excellent project management skills, flexible and solution oriented
- Fluent in English and French
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence platform IBM Cognos TM1 and ERP accounting system Microsoft Dynamics Navision is an asset
