- We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Compliance Manager
Job purpose:
As a Manager of Environmental Compliance, you will be responsible for supporting the business to operate in accordance with environmental legal guidelines and targets. The role will involve examining organisational activities to identify improvement areas and ensure compliance with environmental legislation across the business. As a manager, you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to create impactful environmental programs and help the company solve complex issues from strategy to execution.
The Manager, Environmental Compliance, will be based in Manno, Switzerland, Corporate office and will report to the CAPRI Environment, Health and Safety Director within the Global Loss Prevention team.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the development and implementation of the Environmental Management System to ISO 14001:2015 standard and act as a champion for environmental issues within Michael Kors EMEA.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with UK, European Union and international regulations and legislation, working closely with and supporting the Compliance Committee.
- Monitor compliance with a series of EU directives (e.g. Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive 94/62/EC, Batteries 2006/66/EC and WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU) in 21 EU countries and 43 compliance schemes.
- Carry out internal auditing against ISO 14001:2015 standard and support the business to complete relevant action plans. Carry out annual audits in Spain and Germany and complete ad hoc audit requests from other countries compliance schemes.
- Analyse and report environmental performance to internal and external stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Identify emerging and operational environment issues and trends, and propose appropriate standards, programs and targets.
- Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of an organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues.
- Track the environmental costs and expenses to ensure effective budget management and prepare accruals for EPR reporting.
- Engage with Environmental Consultants and peer groups to discuss environmental challenges and best practices, feeding back learnings to the business.
- Ensure timely submission of environmental reporting obligations in EMEA (approx. 195 submissions for Packaging, WEEE, Batteries & Textiles) in partnership with internal stakeholders and company environmental consultants.
- Maintaining the packaging Database, licensee database, and other EPR data sets for reporting.
- Assist tax department with incoming plastic packaging tax in the UK (Spain and Italy incoming).
You’ll Need to Have:
- Prove track record of working in an environmental role. Ideally, a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Degree or diploma or equivalent qualification in Environmental Sustainability.
- Membership from a recognised Environmental body (IEMA, VNU or similar)
- Experience in interpreting, understanding, and implementing relevant Environmental legislation and government initiatives.
- Extensive understanding of relevant environmental regulatory standards and the process of implementation (e.g., ISO14001).
- Practical experience in conducting environmental audits and inspections.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to manage, process and record data.
