**About Smallpdf**

In 2013, while living abroad, our founders set out to create an online tool that could turn huge PDFs into small, easy-to-send versions in order to send updates to their families. As it turns out, they weren't the only ones with this problem. 10 years later, Smallpdf is one of the most popular PDF tools in the world and among the most visited websites globally. With products available in 24 languages, the site has visitors from every single country in the world, plus Antarctica, and processes millions of documents each day.

In 2022, we took a big step forward by acquiring PDF Tools, a Zurich-based pioneer for products that help to create, manipulate, and validate PDF- and PDF/A- files to support and improve our customers’ document workflows.

**Your mission**:
As our Legal Working Student you will be reporting to an experienced in-house lawyer dedicated to supporting your personal growth and collaborating with the business teams as well as other departments across Smallpdf and PDF Tools. Together with your supervising lawyer you will work on projects across the business, get valuable insights into the startup environment and gain experience as an in-house lawyer.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Support our sales teams and take part in contract negotiations, reviews, and drafting in German and in English.
- Research relevant topics related to Swiss law or foreign jurisdictions, corporate or commercial laws, technology, AI or any topic and challenge that may arise.
- Cross-functional collaboration with several teams across the business in all our markets (100+).
- Support the business on a wide range of legal topics.
- Support the business in compliance work including data protection and data security.

**Your profile**:

- You are enrolled as a student in the field of (business) law at a Swiss university or have studied law in Switzerland.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good research skills.
- Experience reviewing commercial contracts in English and in German.
- You are able to work independently as well as within a team.
- Fluent in German and English.

**Nice to have**:

- Experience with corporate transactions processes.
- Experience with drafting corporate governance documents such as board minutes, board resolutions.
- Experience with/Knowledge of data protection and AI related regulations such as nFADP, GDPR, EU AI Act.
