The Experimental Areas Group within the Beams Department (BE-EA) looks after the secondary beamlines, infrastructure, and management of the fixed target CERN experimental areas, provides support to LHC experiments and machine detector interfaces (MDI), offering associated engineering support and specific technical services necessary for all experiments, related projects, and users.

We are currently looking for a CAD Designer (Mechanical Technician) to integrate the Design and Coordination (DC) section and provide support in all its consolidation CAD activities studies connected either with the integration of the infrastructure of CERN's secondary beamlines and mechanical beamline equipment in the North Experimental Area.

In our team, you will join the Integration Work Package team within the North Area Consolidation Project (NACONS), which is in charge of all the 3D infrastructure models as-built and CAD studies. You will participate in studies connected to the integration of the new power converters in the related surface buildings and in the integration of the new fire safety system in underground areas.

**Qualifications**:
**As a Mechanical Technician, your main activities will consist of**:

- Modelling in 3D (CATIA) the as built of various buildings and tunnels (i.e., ECN3, TCC2 );
- Laser scanning treatment;
- 3D Integration studies in collaboration with various services and stakeholders;
- Organizing and lead bi-weekly integration meetings;
- 3D Mechanical design of beamline equipment;
- Non-conformity follow-up during the implementation phase.

**In order to qualify for a place on the programme you will need to meet the following requirements**:

- You have a Technical Diploma or equivalent as Mechanical Technician (careers.cern/ttediplomas), and no more than 4 years' relevant experience after finishing your diploma;
- If you are currently studying, you are still eligible to apply, although you are expected to have obtained your qualification by the start of your appointment at CERN;
- If you hold a BSc or MSc, you are not eligible. However, you may be eligible for the Fellowship Programme;
- You should have a good knowledge of technical French (English knowledge is considered as an asset).

**Specific skills required for this job**:
Experience in 3D CAD software;
- Reading and understanding of technical drawings;
- Production of assembly and execution drawing;
- Production of technical documentation.

The following experience would be an advantage:

- Practical experience with CATIA 3D software;
- Processing laser scan treatment;
- Use of ISO GPS (Geometrical product specification).
