Firmware Engineer (Lasers)

**Job Description**:
In this position you will take on challenges in areas that include:

- Support design and development of electronics for Ultrafast laser systems.
- Prototype assembly, verification, testing, debugging and troubleshooting.
- Test PCBAs, review Cable drawings.
- Assembly electro-mechanical systems.
- DFQ - design for quality. Perform environmental stability tests (temperature cycles, shock and vibration).
- Keep up to date the Electronics Laboratory.
- Bill of Materials, production files and work instructions.
- Support regulatory compliance testing (EMC, CE).
- Work within cross-functional international teams and collaborate with development partners and related outside services.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment including safe tools and work practices, maintaining and installing electrical safety elements.

- Good understanding of general electrical design practices, in particular design for quality and manufacturability.
- Strong analytical skills, judgment and problem solving ability.

- Self driven working with domestic and off-shore CMs, OEMs and design partners.
- Creative problem solving skills.

**Requirements**:

- Technical Degree and/or Job Specific Certification on electrical engineering.
- 1 to 5 years experience in an industrial development environment.
- Altium or similar ECAD tool is preferred.
- Follow Cable drawings is a must.
- Experience in Test & Reliability engineering (HALT/HASS) is preferred.
- Practical skills and strong hands-on experience (SMD soldering, prototypes assembly, cables).
- Familiarity with high-power electronics (kW) is a plus.
- Experienced with RF electronics, measurement instruments.
- Manufacturing experience/exposure.
- Commercial mind-set, project coordination & planning abilities.
- International travel (up to 10-15%) required to evaluate vendors and co-operate with other design and manufacturing teams.
- Fluent English a must, German a plus.
- Must be eligible to work in Switzerland on a full-time basis. Preferentially Swiss or EU / EFTA.
