Associate Director, Operational Excellence

**The Role**:
The Operational Excellence Associate Director will work closely with the Senior Director of Quality Management Systems to support the development, implementation, oversight, and maintenance of Quality System processes, departmental functional training, and quality/compliance management activities.
The role will involve building strong partnerships in a matrix organization, leveraging data and analytics to prioritize projects and improvement initiatives.
Provide support across the Quality Systems and Compliance network, working with Digital Partners and other stakeholders to ensure business and digital solutions and technologies are aligned and successfully implemented with the highest standards of compliance and integrity to meet business needs.
**Here’s What You’ll Do**:
Partner with Quality System Owners and Digital Leads to solve critical business challenges aligned with Moderna’s Quality Plan and Quality Roadmap
Lead, facilitate Lean and/or Six Sigma improvement projects in partnership with other functions linked to business needs
Build, maintain and leverage relationships across a matrix team to opportunities for collaboration, system and process improvement, facilitating continuous monitoring of processes and staying up to date on developments in regulations, standards and relevant best practices
Serve as project manager and mentor, providing guidance to expert networks, Global Quality members
Develop and provide strategic proposals, progress updates and presentations to all levels of the organization
Lead, facilitate Lean and/or Six Sigma improvement projects in partnership with other functions linked to business needs.
Interface with key stakeholders, sponsors, and other senior management to confirm system/program/project sponsorship/support, strategic alignment, report progress, recognize achievements, and drive decision for significant issues and risks
Demonstrate experience in process mapping, understanding system and data architecture and the gathering of improvement needs, opportunities and pain points to support identification and execution of AI and Automation possibilities to provide predictive trends, risk management inputs and other insights based on available data patterns
Measure and monitor metrics which are leading indicators of performance and support operational execution to help ensure performance is sustained
**Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table**:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a technical role in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing
Previous people leadership experience required and experience leading the development and technical growth of colleagues to support business transformation
Strong knowledge of quality and manufacturing operations
Strong analytical and strategic skills with experiencing solving complex and unique problems
Well-developed interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate across CMC functions and work effectively across all levels of the organization
Experience in managing projects that require critical thinking, collaborative approaches; innovation; strong analytical skills; ability to understand business issues and processes
Experience in leading/influencing internal and external stakeholders

Possesses a collaborative spirit, strong project/program management skills, including change leadership
Strong analytical skills to assess information, draw conclusions and recommend improvements

Ability to write technical investigation summaries for multiple audiences
Proficient is MS Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
Certified Lean Practitioner / Six Sigma Black Belt
20% travel expected
