**Professor for Neuroimmunology - Multiple Sclerosis (MS)**

As part of the Research Center for Clinical Neuroimmunology and Neuroscience Basel (RC2NB), a research professorship in “Neuroimmunology - MS” has been established. Its purpose consists in the optimal exploitation of the existing potential in this domain of research by making use and further developing existing structures of the University Hospital Basel (USB) and the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel. Thereby, these institutions aim to reinforce the leading position of the RC2NB in the field of MS, as well as translational and clinical neuroimmunology.

**Your position**

You are heading a successful research group, which you intend to integrate into a prospering environment of other research teams in your area of research. Thereby you will become an integral part of the "RC2NB", complementing and further strengthening its standing in the international scientific community. With your documented excellence in the clinical care of MS patients, you as a leading physician will make an important contribution to the care of this patient group at the University Hospital of Basel. In your clinical function you form an important link between the clinic and research, thereby promoting translational MS research as a whole. You teach neuroimmunology in the larger context of neurology in the medical curriculum. With your commitment to research and teaching you inspire students and help promoting young academics.

**Your profile**

You hold a specialty title in neurology (board certified neurologist) and have many years of specialized experience with an excellent track record in MS clinics. You stand out by your excellent, internationally competitive, third-party funded translational research activities in the field of mechanisms of MS pathogenesis, MS therapy and/or relevant biomarkers. Ideally, you have documented commitment and experience in setting up and managing an MS cohort and in coordinating an MS biobank. You actively seek and promote the cooperation with neighboring medical disciplines and basic science on site. Thanks to your distinctive expertise, your leadership and communication skills and your social competence you easily find acceptance and trust. You create an attractive working environment, inspire the creative thinking and initiative of your employees and encourage them. Your participatory, goal-oriented leadership ensures an attractive working environment for academic and clinical specialists in both patient care and laboratory research. These diverse skills and experiences allow you to integrate into the existing structures of the RC2NB in a way that is mutually beneficial. Very good to excellent German in speaking and writing is mandatory.
