We're hiring for an interim Head of Reinsurance Reserving (maternity cover), a critical role which leads the International Reinsurance Reserving team and with a focus also on enhancing and developing the teams foundation and capabilities.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Guide the international reinsurance reserving team in completing annual reserve studies; validate that the assumptions and methods used are appropriate.- Manage the actuarial inputs to the quarterly close process; monitor Actual vs Expected loss emergence, suggest movements in booked and/or indicated ultimate loss ratios where necessary.- Periodically review the effectiveness and suitability of the segmentation of contracts into IBNR groups.- Work closely with the Chief Reserving Actuary; advise of unexpected developments and trends.- Establish regular and meaningful communications with the U/W, claims and pricing teams; promote the reserving function as a key partner to the success of the Reinsurance division.- Collaborate with pricing actuaries on key assumptions (e.g. loss trends and development patterns).- Guide and mentor the reserving team, encouraging high performance and clear goals.- Ensure that all internal controls are documented and respected.- Strong reinsurance reserving experience- Experience in managing a team of actuaries- Working knowledge of ResQ is desirable.- Strong analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.- Strong organizational skills and ability to deliver multiple projects on time.- Fellow of an actuarial organization recognized by the International Actuarial Association
