- MAIN PURPOSES OF THE ROLE
- The primary assistants are an integral part of the educational community. The key role of the assistant is to work alongside classroom teachers to deliver quality teaching and learning and to actively supervise students, both inside and outside the classroom to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The primary assistant’s responsibilities are not limited to but include the following:

- Promote the school values RISE, Golden Rules, Restorative Practices and Positive Discipline,
- Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all students,
- Record and communicate all disciplinary incidents,
- Accompany the students between the classrooms and the buses,
- Supervise actively at recess times and at lunch time while the students eat,
- Support all teachers to promote effective teaching and learning within the classroom,
- Replace teacher as necessary (for short periods, under supervision of grade level colleagues, lessons will be planned by class teachers),
- Take responsibility for the care of all equipment, as appropriate,
- Provide general administrative support, as appropriate,
- Accompany educational visits as required, including residential trip,
- Take an active role in whole school initiatives.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- To fulfill this role, you need to establish and maintain good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, act as an excellent team player, be resilient, show good judgment and discretion, take initiative, and remain flexible. It is also preferred that you are bilingual in English and French.

Qualification
- We are seeking a Teaching Assistant, preferably with a Higher Education qualification, to support our academic staff and contribute to the learning experience of our students.

Experience
- We require experience working with children in a classroom setting and experience working with students with learning differences. Additionally, it is preferred to have experience with the use of Jolly Phonics or a similar phonics scheme, as well as experience teaching or supporting English as a Second Language students.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
- It is important that the post holder is always aware of Child Protection guidelines and observes a professional distance from students whilst still developing effective working and caring relationships. You understand and embrace the importance of diversity and inclusion and stand against discrimination in any form. Background investigations and reference checks for the past ten years will be conducted during the selection process.
