**Technical Research Assistant**

The Gluenz Lab studies the protozoan parasite Leishmania to understand the cellular mechanisms that enable these unicellular parasites to pass through their life cycle and cause disease.

**Responsibilities**:
This position is available for a technical research assistant to support the generation of a CRISPR-Cas9 gene deletion cell library for a genome-wide fitness phenotyping screen of Leishmania as part of a collaborative project (LeishGEM.org).
Specific Tasks include
- Cell culture of Leishmania
- Molecular biology (DNA extraction, PCR, etc.)
- Generation and characterisation of gene-edited cell lines
- Equipment maintenance
- Contributing to the general smooth running of the laboratory.

**Requirements**:
We are looking for a motivated person with completed training as a laboratory technician or a BSc degree in Biology / Life Sciences or equivalent. Specific experience required: Experience in carrying out molecular biology tasks, Experience in cell culture and sterile technique in the laboratory, the ability to keep detailed and accurate records, the ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to summarise, experimental data and results concisely, technical understanding in handling laboratory equipment and the ability to work independently and as member of a team.
