**Motion System Drives R&D Unit Lead (80-100%)**:

In this role you will lead and represent R&D operations in Switzerland to reach agreed R&D Targets. Besides, you will be ensuring the delivery of R&D results to enhance ABB’s position and profitability. Your role will support global R&D management to develop medium - and long-term technology footprint strategies while ensuring a fruitful and trust-based cooperation also with other local R&D operations. Reporting to the R&D Manager of Motion System Drives, you oversee efficient and timely execution to deliver high quality and right cost within budget and in given timeline. Proactively manage risk and take corrective actions.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Work with global R&D management, other local R&D units and neighboring local organizations and management to ensure successful delivery of R&D results for the global organization.
- Drive development and improvement of processes and tools to enhance local operations and to keep them consistent with global processes and tools.
- Further develop collaboration with sources of state-of-the-art technologies like CRCs, universities and institutes and other relevant 3rd parties for our business such as standardization organizations.
- Support global R&D management in developing medium
- and long-term strategies and implements them in local organization
- Build and maintain a culture of innovation, for and by attracting, motivating, and retaining creative R&D employees, who are empowered to challenge the status quo in technical issues, projects, tools or processes.
- Set targets and oversee planning of an appropriate project portfolio for the R&D unit.
- Plan ahead and ensure appropriate capacity and capacity flexibility to execute R&D projects and keep competencies and capabilities up to date.
- Support monitoring and managing IP topics with Global R&D management.
- Prepare annual and multi-year budgets and execute within target.

**Your background**:

- +8 years’ managerial experience in R&D.
- Proven track record of leading people in major R&D projects in multicultural environment
- Customer-oriented, cost
- and quality-focused approach in leading R&D unit
- Technical knowledge on power electronics drives or converter development
- Fluent written and spoken English matched with solid communication skills
- Strong analytical and systematic problem solving skills
- High level of personal integrity
- International travel, approximately 15 days a year
