**Job Description** Your responsibilities**

You are a Mechanical Technician interested in developing vacuum technology competences, in particular helium leak detection. You will be involved in leak detection of cryogenic and thermal insulation vacuum systems with emphasis on:

- Design and production of clamshell tools for leak detection in the helium transfer lines of the high-luminosity LHC project;
- Testing and validating in laboratory of these tools;
- Identification and cataloguing of these tools for forthcoming use at CERN.

In addition, you will be a member of the team in charge of the installation, commissioning, and operation of the insulation vacuum system of the new high-luminosity test bench, which comprises superconducting magnets and cryogenic high-current distribution lines.

**Your profile**

**Skills**:

- Experience with traditional manufacturing techniques; with turning and milling capabilities;
- Experience in 3D modelling skills using CATIA;
- Knowledge of 3D manufacturing technologies;
- Basic knowledge of vacuum techniques and engineering;
- Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
