Intern - Hlcm Working Group, Diversity, Equity and

The Group will be guided by the Human Resource (HR) Network and will liaise regularly with the HR Network to keep them apprised of their work. The Group will also collaborate with other relevant groups/networks addressing DEI issues, including the informal inter-agency Group on anti-racism, etc.
The Group will build on existing DEI work that has been done across the UN system to learn from and leverage relevant policies, principles, practices and glossaries on DEI. In this regard, the Group will review existing DEI policies and procedures in the common system, including the DEI strategies applied in managing recruitment, training and other aspects of the employee life cycle.
The intern will support the Group remotely, performing research and other duties assigned.
The duration of the internship is three months, with the possibility of an extension of up to six months.
The internship is unpaid and full-time
The intern will work five (5) days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a designated staff member (Coordinator of the Working Group on DEI, United Nations Office at Geneva).
**Responsibilities**:
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Working Group on DEI, United Nations Office at Geneva the intern will perform the following duties:
- Perform research and maintain a record of other inputs from various agencies, entities and representative groups relating to DEI within the UN common system.
- Review relevant policies, principles, practices and glossaries utilized in the UN-system. Maintain a list of recommendations and other substantive inputs proposed by members of the DEI Working Group to enhance the existing policies, principles, practices and glossaries and further mainstream DEI in the UN common system.
- Assist in the identification of the data, trends, issues, gaps and areas of collaboration and support the preparation of internal progress and data reports.
- Attend meetings of the working group and its sub-groups as appropriate, to gain an understanding of the UN’s system-wide DEI goals, priorities and action plans.
- Assist in preparing, organizing and servicing the working group sessions.
- Attend webinars and other information sessions within the United Nations at the request of the Supervisor and produce short summaries of content.
- Support outreach initiatives by assisting with preparing meeting documents (data reports and PowerPoint presentations).
- Undertake other duties assigned.

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and,
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Experience and/or research relevant to international organizations, DEI, human resources, business administration, public administration and database is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
