As a Legal Counsel, you will Advise IOC management and business units on contracts and legal matters related to the organisation of the Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games.
**Main responsibilities**
Under the supervision of, and following the strategic objective set by, the Head of Olympic Games Legal Services, acting in close cooperation with other members of the Legal Affairs Department, other IOC business units and Organizing Committees, the Legal Counsel will work autonomously and provide legal advisory services in relation to events-related matters for the Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games, with a focus on delivery and operations, to various internal and external stakeholders of the IOC and ensure effective management of legal and contractual matters.
More specifically, the main responsibilities of the Legal Counsel will be to:
- Manage, coordinate and provide legal advice to the IOC and its business units and/or Organizing Committees’ (OCOGs) on event related operational matters;
- Provide legal advice and services, including negotiating, reviewing and drafting contracts and other legal documents related to the bidding, organization and delivery of the Olympic Games, the Youth Olympic Games and other IOC activities and entities related to the IOC;
- Serve as the contact person for the Legal Function within the dedicated Organising Committee on all matters pertaining to the delivery and operations;
- Support the relevant Games Services functions, such as, without limitation, Accommodation, Accreditation, Venue and Event Delivery, Medical Services & Anti-Doping;
- Assist and support the Legal Department in the review of bidding documentation and guarantees.
**Our requirements**
- Qualified lawyer (member of a bar), a Master’s degree in law (eg LL.M) or equivalent.
- 6+ years of post-qualification proven, progressive and relevant experience working as in-house or external counsel (law firm) in an international context or equivalent experience. Experience in relation to the organisation of international events (Sports or otherwise) will be an added advantage.
- Fluency in English and French. Command of other languages related to upcoming editions of the Olympic Games (e.g. Italian) would be an advantage.
- Excellent command of the corporate tools and ability to follow the internal user rules (Outlook, etc.).
- Outstanding organisational and communication skills
- Business-oriented approach and ability to interact with professionals of different backgrounds and cultures and to develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to adapt to new situation and prioritise as well as to think ahead and anticipate problems.
- Ability to work under pressure in highly efficient manner and meet deadlines.
