**Job Description**:
Are you an enthusiastic electronics technician looking for a challenging professional experience to further your career? If so, joining CERN’s TTE programme may be the perfect opportunity for you.

As an electronics technician you will join the TE-MPE-MP section, which is in charge of Energy Extraction Systems installed in the CERN’s LHC accelerator complex as well as several test buildings spread over the different sites. We are looking for a recently graduated electronics technician to consolidate its team.

You will reinforce the team and be involved at all stages of the design, construction, and tests of new and upgraded electrical and electronic devices. An engineer will mentor you throughout your projects.

After an initial training period, you will:

- Work on upgrading of electrical systems and electronics for contactors and circuit-breakers. This includes the design of boards and procurement of components, as well as assembly and testing of the printed circuit boards.
- New design of control and power electronics (specific to the type of switching elements) will be brought from prototype to production versions.
- Participate in exciting test programmes for new versions of electronics and switching equipment with DC currents from 600 A up to 2 kA. Towards the end of your assignment, you will have the opportunity to take part in the final design before series production.
- If interested, you can also work on FPGA and/or LabVIEW programming used in the control system of the switches.

The energy extraction systems contain almost all subfields of technologies linked to electricity and electronics; from digital and analogue electronics to instrumentation, power electronics, FPGA, microcontrollers and high current distribution and water-cooled DC busbars.

**Qualifications**:
In order to qualify for a place on the programme you will need to meet the following requirements:

- You have a Technical Diploma (careers.cern/ttediplomas), and no more than 4 years' relevant experience after finishing your diploma;
- If you are currently studying, you are still eligible to apply, although you are expected to have obtained your qualification by the start of your appointment at CERN;
- If you hold a BSc or MSc, you are not eligible. However, you may be eligible for the Fellowship Programme.
- You should have at least a working knowledge of English OR French.

Specific skills required for this project:

- Understanding of electronics boards
- Understanding of electrical crates
- Understanding of boards and crates
- Installation/testing of equipment
- Knowledge of power electronics would be an asset

- On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French;
- A monthly stipend of 4599CHF Swiss Francs per month (net of tax);
- Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund;
- Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva;
- 2,5 days of paid leave per month.
