Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Our global Industrial division started a complete renewal of the terminal portfolio. Some of the actions taken are of great importance to strengthen the current core-business, but also to leverage a variety of future, digital opportunities. With increased integration of our solutions into IT and OT, system understanding, and architecture will gain further importance. This will pave the way to leverage the industrial internet of things, with the terminal as a key-component in edge computing. That is why we are looking for a motivated C# /.NET Architect 100% (f/m/d).

This role is based in our global operational Headquarters in Nänikon-Greifensee.

The Terminal R&D efforts are performed by our global team in China and Germany. We will extend our team by strengthening our capabilities and building a new R&D Competence Center in Switzerland, facilitating an end-to-end development of our high-end terminals in central Europe. The new team will help us to extend our competencies by offering excellent opportunities to talents in the greater Zurich area. Any first-movers will have the chance to shape the team and deliver an important contribution to turn METTLER TOLEDO into a major player in digital solutions for our customers.

In this role, your responsibilities would include:

- Take technical leadership in SW architecture topics, in close collaboration with the other global sub-teams
- Work on all layers of MT‘s technology stack to provide a solution, which is perfectly integrated from the sensor, over the edge to the cloud. You prepare solutions by determining and designing system specifications. You take care that systems are harmonized, and platforms are developed
- Take care that the solutions comply to all demands in terms of cyber security
- Provide solutions, which are ready to integrate into the industrial internet of things (IIoT)
- Guide teams on the end-to-end project lifecycle, covering the initial conception, business requirements, software architecture and technical leadership
- Provide technological and architectural consulting to our stakeholders, give technical recommendations, and advise on their execution
- Work on proof-of-concept and the design of innovative solutions, with an emphasis on scalability, modularity, flexibility, and performance
- Run group-wide thought leadership initiatives to advance our architectural practice and sustain our technical excellence
- Work closely with your cooperation partners, who are product managers, dedicated requirements engineers, test-automation-teams and embedded software development teams as well as DevOps

What You Need to Succeed
- Following requirements are necessary for this role:

- Bachelor or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering or equivalent
- Additional experience on one or several other frameworks such as ASP.NET or on web front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, Blazor
- Solid knowledge of integration patterns and best practices such as synchronous vs. asynchronous communications, RESTful APIs, messaging, publish-subscribe
- Experience with IIoT communication protocols, OPC-UA and MQTT
- Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration platforms
- Strong knowledge of best practices and tooling for CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, agile methods (SAFe, Scrum), automated testing, code quality, such as VSTS, Selenium / Gherkin, Artifactory
- Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting and profiling systems
- Experience with cloud services (Azure, AWS, etc.) and IIoT is a plus
- A passion for clean code and pragmatic, elegant design
- Enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, team spirit, and general awesomeness in software engineering
- Fluent in English, German language skills are a big plus
