**Are you a Master's student, passionate about sustainability and interested in pioneering solutions for polymer recycling? We have an exciting internship opportunity for you. The focus of this internship will be on chemical recycling of end-of-life plastic, specifically targeting polystyrene (PS) and mixed plastic waste (MPW) recycling.**

The main challenge we would like you to work on is decontamination of pyrolysis oil derived from mixed plastic waste and polystyrene. These types of feeds often contain halogens originating from various sources such as food packaging and flame retardants. Within this internship, you will play a crucial role in supporting innovative methods to remove halogens and other contaminants from pyrolysis oil and polymer melt.

The internship program would run for 6 month.

**Your main tasks and responsibilities**:

- Conduct research to identify effective methods for the removal of halogens and contaminants from pyrolysis oil and polymer melt.
- Compare and evaluate different purification techniques, including hydroprocessing of pyrolysis oil.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of stakeholders, including engineers, scientists, and technical experts.
- Document and analyze experimental data, making recommendations for process improvement.
- Conceptual design of new processes based on the research output.
- Contribute to the development of sustainable polymer recycling solutions.

**What you bring to Sulzer**:

- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong interest in sustainability and a passion for addressing complex environmental challenges.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work on intricate technical problems.
- Proficiency in modelling, data analysis tools and techniques.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to a dynamic work environment.
