**Job Description** Introduction**

Are you an Applied Physicist with a passion for challenging and exciting projects in the field of particle physics experiments? Then seize the opportunity and join the ATLAS group in CERN’s Experimental Physics Department (EP) and integration of the next generation silicon tracker for the ATLAS experiment, the Inner Tracker (ITk). The CERN ATLAS Team plays a major role in many areas of the ITk Pixel Outer Barrel. Within our team, you will contribute to the integration and commissioning of leading-edge technical solutions for this next generation of particle detector.

**Functions**

The specific functions of this job will be:

- Contribute to the ITk Pixel Outer Barrel Integration at CERN;
- Install and commission the infrastructure for electrical tests, including the electrical and cooling equipment; establish and document the operation procedures;
- Implement the required parts and their handling in the production database and test routines;
- Support the development of the Outer Barrel Integration QC and tests during various integration and installation stages; provide information to collaborating teams and report on progress in meetings;
- Support the reception testing of components for Outer Barrel integration;
- Lead the testing and evaluation activities of part of the Outer Barrel integration; Sign-off of the results including documentation of results and systematic reporting;
- Closely interact with teams and activity coordinators working on integration ensuring the integrated detector components meet the specifications;
- Contribute to Outer Barrel commissioning and its preparation for in-cavern testing;
- Contribute to R&D activities of the team in the field of pixel detector development.

**Qualifications**
Master's degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of electronics engineering or physics or a related field.

**Experience**:

- Demonstrated experience in the field of semiconductor detectors for particle physics experiments.
- Proven experience in silicon detector operation and quality control including the development, installation, and commissioning of laboratory infrastructure.
- Experience in performance evaluation of silicon tracking systems.
- Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team and international collaboration, including physicists, engineers and technicians involved in work on detector construction.
- It would be an asset to have experience on CAD design of mechanics components or cooling plant operation.

**Technical competencies**:

- Assembly and integration of detectors in particular construction of silicon detectors.
- Testing and validation of detector, accelerator and beam line components including electrical characterisation and quality management of semiconductor detectors.
- Assembly and operation of infrastructure for detectors.
- Organisation, planning and control including supervision of students and technicians.

**Language skills**:

- French: basic knowledge would be an asset or willingness to acquire it rapidly.
