Under the “Media Enabling Democracy, Inclusion, and Accountability in Moldova” (MEDIA-M) project, the Researcher will investigate key challenges to digital rights, measure the extent they are protected, and devise recommendations for policymakers and civil society to better ensure and promote internet freedom in the country.

**DELIVERABLES**:

- Conduct research and analysis describing internet freedom in Moldova and develop recommendations for local policymakers, international partners, and civil society actors; collect and implement feedback provided by Freedom House staff;
- Produce one report on the state of internet freedom in Moldova in English;
- Work closely with the Research Director, who will provide oversight and guidance in the development and deployment of the analytical report.
- Collaborate with Freedom House’s programmatic, communications and advocacy teams, particularly as it relates to internet and democracy issues in Moldova;
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Outstanding English writing and editing skills and a knack for drafting concise, eloquent, and media-friendly communications;
- Grasp of important internet policy and regulatory debates in Moldova and knowledge about the ways in which the internet and technology can advance or undermine human rights
- Experience conducting desk research and some experience using quantitative and qualitative data, as well as an interest in developing an understanding of research methods
- Experience conducting project management and coordinating multiple tasks on a 3-6 month timeline
- Some experience with using quantitative data and qualitative information, including to manage complex Excel databases and to create infographics and other communication materials for publication Personal Attributes and Characteristics
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a workplace setting
- Emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills needed to communicate with and facilitate cooperation between people with divergent views and from different cultural backgrounds
- Superb attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and an ability to produce error-free work on tight deadlines
- Enthusiasm for collaborative work and a desire for professional development via knowledge and skills acquisition
