The AO is a medically-guided, not-for-profit organisation, a global network of surgeons, and the world's leading education, innovation, and research organisation specialising in the surgical treatment of trauma and musculoskeletal disorders. We have a global network of over 385,000 health care professionals. We have around 18,500 surgeon members working in the fields of trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial, veterinary, and reconstructive surgery.

The AO Education Institute supports the AO and its Clinical Divisions to further develop and to transform medical education for our communities.

The AO faculty development team develops faculty training programs for all Clinical Divisions/Units of the AO. These competency-based programs offer a broad range of learning opportunities to support AO faculty members, chairpersons, and leaders in achieving their educational goals. Based on adult learning principles, we promote excellence in teaching, facilitation of surgeon learning, and curriculum development, and provide constructive feedback to the participating faculty members.
