Position Overview
Buying Manager at Ralph Lauren is responsible for managing the successful development, communication and execution of Omni Channel, Buying and Merchandising of regional assortment, goals and strategies for all product categories within the Ralph Lauren Regional Channels.
This individual will report into the Buying Lead. The position will work closely with the Assortment Planning, IMO, Marketing, Supply chain and regions including Direct To Consumer to ensure the maximization of sales and profitability, whilst enhancing brand equity and positioning.
The main objectives are to create curated assortments & merchandise plans based on regional needs and adapted to changes in strategy, business climate, competitive benchmarking & positioning and manage inventory to support overall financial objectives both at a channel and merchandise level.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage seasonal product assortments in line with planning targets of sales, SKU’s, productivity and product trends.
- Manage buys align with departmental, and class merchandise plans
- Manage Go-to-Market assortment strategies from including in-store presentation guidelines, development of effective selling tools, provide Regional & Account Support with regards to implementing Brand Strategies
- Ensure all regional channels are equipped with the best product to drive financial success, sales, ROI, inventory and maintaining high margins through full price sales.
- Build collaborative partnerships with X-Functional Areas to best represent products at market & develop innovative ideas to enhance the consumer experience
- Liaise with performance partners on enhancing - assortments, business opportunities, competitive positioning and channel strategies.
- Identify and develop product strategies in order to drive the seasonal business and brand positioning.
- Manage and drive process and seasonal calendar
- Capitalize on business opportunities and risks in-season utilizing sales performance and marketplace information provided by the cross-functional team
- Manage assortment performance assessment via regular reporting and suggest recommendations to minimize exposure and maximize the business.
- Provide leadership and direction to the team in line with global change initiatives
- Responsible for setting functional strategies and priorities with the team
- Empower and motivate the team, promote high performance standards and attainment of goals
- Individual accountabilities
- Assort, price and forecast the line
- Coordinate team operations and seasonal calendar/milestones
- Track business performance weekly (SI, SO, GM, )
- Benchmark decisions against competition & broader market landscape
- Define seasonal assortment needs upfront & share with Global Merchandising teams
- Prepare & present the assortment at line opening meeting

- Contribute to brand elevation both on qualitative and quantitative point of view
- Lead/initiate business development projects
- Challenges and inform seasonal product plans & OTB
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- International background (work / study)
- Deep understanding of wholesale & retail business
- Product presentation experience are a plus
- 5+ years work experience in Merchandising, Buying or similar roles
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams with multiple layers of reporting
- Fluent in English, additional languages are a plus
- Concrete passion for Diversity & Inclusion values
