ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT
The Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) is responsible for the organization and coordination of the work of the Telecommunication Development Sector of the Union. BDT deals mainly with development policies, strategies, programming, projects, as well as technical cooperation activities to enable and foster universal access to affordable, high-quality and secure telecommunications/ICTs and Foster equitable and inclusive use of telecommunications/ICTs to empower people and societies for sustainable development. To effectively and efficiently serve the needs of Member States, BDT is organized into four functional areas:
- Operations Coordination Department (Office of the Deputy to the Director) (DDR)
- Projects, Partnerships & Digital Skills Department (PPS)
- Digital Networks & Environment Department (DNE)
- Digital Knowledge Society Department (DKS)
The Digital Networks & Environment Department (DNE) is responsible to assist the Member States, especially the G77 countries, in a wide range of ICT development challenges, as basic connectivity, spectrum management, evolution of current to future broadband networks and technologies, enabling universal and affordable access, and strengthening the security through the cybersecurity support. In addition, the DNE Department provides expertise and needed support for emergency telecommunications and the increasingly important and urgent aspects related to the environment and climate change.
**BACKGROUND INFORMATION**:
**TERMS OF REFERENCE**:
Under the supervision of the Head of Cybersecurity, supporting the Cybersecurity Thematic Priority team, the intern will contribute and support with the implementation of the cybersecurity activities (national cybersecurity strategies, women in cyber, capacity-building in the Least Developed Countries, Global Cybersecurity Index), and other work under the Thematic Priority.
To this end, the intern will (but not limited to):
- Conduct research and data analysis, including:
- drafting and editing reports, briefings, and documents; refining/adding executive summaries, concisely highlighting key findings.
- preparing graphic-rich, high-quality PowerPoint presentations
- carrying out research in support of current projects
- Participate in communication, coordination and promotional activities for the upcoming events, including:
- developing content for the website
- preparing meeting summaries
- contributing and ensuring the visibility of virtual events, digital campaigns, and key activities.
**COMPETENCIES**:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written;
Teamwork and Collaboration; Client and Service Orientation; and Organizational skills.
Excellent computer skills (MS Office; PowerPoint; Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe
Premiere Pro an asset). Knowledge of ICT industry and tech media an asset.
Excellent research, analysis and summarizing skills.
**QUALIFICATION REQUIRED**:
Education: University degree in progress in relevant fields OR education in a reputed college of advanced education with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of an university degree in one international relations, development, international law, computer science, cybersecurity, or other relevant programs.
Experience: Not required.
Languages: Advanced level of English is required.
Knowledge of a second official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) at an intermediate level would be desirable.

**Please note that a non-remunerated Internship position at ITU does not carry the same conditions of employment as a Short-term or a Fixed-term position.**
**Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions**.
The internship will be carried out remotely.
