**HPC Architect (W/M)**:
**Your mission**:
The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project (BBP), a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain.

**Main duties and responsibilities include**:

- Lead architectural design of future HPC and cloud solutions for BBP software stack
- Lead and co-ordinate the cellular simulator design & development with the team and the collaborators
- Explore emerging hardware platforms to efficiently run software toolchains of BBP
- Lead roadmap planning and implementation with the team to achieve the desired goals periodically
- Participate in technical meetings across the organisation for cellular toolchain and transitioning towards future HPC-cloud technologies
- Lead discussions with technology partners for transitioning towards cloud and setup new collaborations
- Participate in the writing of scientific articles, technical reports and other documents
- Participate in and lead meetings within the group and the section
- Mentor junior team members in their technical work

**Your profile**:

- Master’s degree or higher in High Performance Computing or a related field
- Professional experience in C++/Python Software development, testing, release, compilation, debugging, and documentation.
- Experience in Linux-based system administration.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented, parallel, and distributed programming.
- Experience in software development on supercomputers and distributed systems.
- Involvement in Open Source communities, interests in Software development, compilation and packaging.
- Quality-driven work ethics.
- Good team player and fluent English in speech and writing.
