Unctad Internship

This profile is for the sole purpose of the Internship Programme of the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development in Geneva.

This position is located in the Communications and External Relations, Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

The duration of the internships will be of an initial period of three months with possibility of extension up to six months. The starting date is as soon as possible.

Training and mentoring will be provided all along the internship by the supervisor (s) and team of colleagues in the Office.

**Responsibilities**:
At an exciting time for UNCTAD, with renewed leadership and workplan, we are looking for talented, creative individuals passionate about sustainable development and interested in trade, to support the communications team of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development with following functions:

- Assists with the preparation, editing and graphic design of various written documents, e.g. news items, web banners, meetings logos, etc.
- Supports the design of digital and multimedia content (logos, factsheets, infographics, short animations, videos) to improve UNCTAD’s creative storytelling.
- Contributes to brainstorming and to developing ideas to visually tell UNCTAD’s stories and highlight the results of our work in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and UNCTAD's objective of delivering “Prosperity for All”.

Specific tasks include:

- Research for the visualization / iconography of trade and development topics and issues based on current communication trends and campaigns in similar fields
- Assisting in creating graphic and animated content to be posted on unctad.org and UNCTAD’s social media channels.
- Setting-up, producing and editing video interviews and highlight videos.
- Creating short, animated videos.
- Shooting and editing still photographs of UNCTAD events and meetings.

More generally, interns shall:
1. Observe all applicable rules, regulations, instructions, procedures and directives of the Organization notwithstanding their status as described in section 4 of the UN Internship Programme Administrative Instructions ST/AI/2000/9 & ST/AI/2005/11.
2. Provide the receiving departments/offices with a copy of all materials prepared by them during the internship. The UN shall be entitled to all property rights, including but not limited to patents, copyrights and trademarks, with regard to material which bears a direct relation to or is made in consequence of, the services provided under the internship. At the request of the UN, the interns shall assist in securing such property rights and transferring them to the UN in compliance with the requirements of the applicable law.
3. Respect the impartiality and independence required of the UN and of the receiving department/office and shall not seek or accept instructions regarding the services performed under the internship agreement from any Government or from any authority external to the UN;

5. Refrain from any conduct that would adversely reflect on the UN or on the receiving department/office and will not engage in any activity which is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the UN.

Education
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- Be enrolled, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).

- Be computer literate in design software and standard video, including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop;
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Powerpoint, Word, Excel).
