Minimum qualifications:

- Qualified Swiss lawyer (admitted to the bar)
- Commercial experience as an attorney either in private practice or an in-house legal team.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience in a private practice, government, or in-house as a legal IT specialist, or part of the media/technology legal team.
- Experience in public speaking and ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt quickly and independently lead/work on various legal matters simultaneously.
- Ability to speak and write in English and French, Italian, or German fluently.

As Associate Counsel, you will work on legal issues; projects and cases you will take on will challenge you to think big, fast and differently. You'll partner on initiatives that influence all aspects of the business and work with Googlers from all over the company. As an integrated part of the team, you will proactively assess legal risks and advise on products. You'll advise the business on its activities, including key legal risks and strategies, while working closely with team members to roll out new products, establish key agreements and manage regulatory challenges and litigation as needed. You will work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced team environment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide expert and strategic legal advice to the company.
- Respond promptly and reliably to internal and external requests for advice, specifically with regards to litigation, regulatory inquiries, agreements, commercial regulations, IP, data protection, advertising and consumer protection as needed.
- Manage and conduct legal due diligence in connection with local launch of new Google products, services and devices.
- Assist with litigation and regulatory investigations as needed in cooperation with Google Legal colleagues and external counsel, and work cross-functionally to support and align our advocacy campaigns and to provide legal input on policy proposals and legislative recommendations.
- Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors, anticipate issues and estimate risks, strategically identifying proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate such risks, and manage complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas.
