Data and Operations Manager, Zurich Risk Room

The Zurich Risk Room (ZRR) team within Group Risk Management is responsible for delivering country risk data and insights to Zurich’s commercial customers around the world through the ZRR platform. The ZRR is Zurich’s proprietary country risk analysis and visualization tool, which helps companies with international operations cutting through the complexity of ever-changing risk environments and reaching their full potential in making better informed risk management and strategic decisions.
As ZRR Data and Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the entire ZRR data management cycle, from data collation and transformation, to validation and release, including managing the team’s network of data suppliers, internal and external IT specialists, and the global ZRR Champions network. You will work on continuous enhancements to both the ZRR platform and technology, the underlying data operating model and dataset, and the ZRR go-to-market approach. You will work with cutting-edge technology and some one of the world’s most advanced data management and computing platforms and engines. You will also be responsible for managing some of the team’s major global Thought Leadership Initiatives, such as the annual Zurich Enterprise Challenge. As you progress in your role, you will start working with multinational Zurich commercial customers from around the world at senior management and up to C-suite level when presenting and implementing the ZRR in their organizations.

**What you will do**
As ZRR Data and Operations Manager, your main responsibilities will consist of
- Performing the entire ZRR data management cycle, including collation, transformation and validation of ZRR data and release of periodic ZRR data updates
- Maintaining and further enhancing the quality and content of the ZRR dataset (e.g. screening current dataset for anomalies, identifying potential new data sources and indicators, reviewing and refining current data calculation methodologies)
- Working on platform and technology developments as well as the future ZRR go-to-market approach
- Managing the team’s network of ZRR data suppliers and internal IT specialists, as well the global ZRR Champions network
- Overseeing the team’s global Thought Leadership initiatives (e.g. the Zurich Enterprise Challenge)
- Working with local and regional customer, distribution and market management teams around the world in managing customer engagements (e.g. customer meetings, conferences, customer projects and ad-hoc requests)
**What you bring**
As ZRR Data and Operations Manager, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration / Management, Economics, Mathematics, Physics or in a similar field with strong quantitative focus
- 5-8 years working experience in Insurance (Underwriting / Risk Engineering / Claims), Risk Management, Strategy / Business Development / M&A, Operations or other related corporate functions; additional experience in Management Consulting / Advisory is an asset, but not mandatory
- Proactive, enthusiastic and “self-starter” mindset with very strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Very strong analytical and quantitative skills, experience in working with and managing large datasets and knowledge of data analysis methods and systems is a strong asset
- Very good knowledge of MS Office, SQL and R (or related programming languages and statistical software packages)
- Proficiency in English, knowledge of German and other languages is an asset
