**_ Context:_**

**Project Context and Scope**

The UN Network on Migration was established to ensure effective, timely and coordinated
system-wide support to Member States. In carrying out its mandate, the Network will prioritize
the rights and well-being of migrants and their communities. In October 2020, the European
Union (EU) and the United Nations Network on Migration signed a partnership to pioneer
capacity building support to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular
Migration (GCM). The Building Migration Partnerships (BMP) programme facilitates UN-wide
expertise to help countries develop, implement, and monitor safe, orderly and regular migration
policy frameworks. As coordinator of the United Nations Network on Migration, the International
Organization for Migration (IOM) leads the programme, working closely with Network members,
Member States, and other stakeholders.

**_ Core Functions / Responsibilities:_**

**Tasks to be performed under this contract**

Working closely with the Network secretariat team and the Network workstream, the Category A
Consultant will:
1. Support the facilitation of tailor-made Technical Assistance in programme countries by
reviewing documents, collecting updates and monitoring progress

2. Support the development and finalisation of monitoring and reporting to the donor, including
monthly flash reports, per contractual arrangement

3. Support regional teams with administrative and logístical preparations for United Nations
Country Teams support workshops as relevant

4. Contribute to learning and exchange from Technical Assistance initiatives, through the
collection, collation, and dissemination of examples, lessons learned and best practices to be
shared through the Migration Network Hub

5. Contribute to programme communications and visibility by drafting tweets, talking points,
background documents, and other promotional materials.

6. Assist with the implementation of monitoring frameworks and knowledge management
systems for the effective functioning of the project.

7. Assist with organizing events and meetings at global and country levels.

**Performance indicators for evaluation of results**:

- Monthly flash reports collated in a timely manner.- At least three UN workshops have been supported.
- At least three countries have been supported with technical assistance.

**_ Required Qualifications and Experience:_**

**Education, experience and/or skills required**
- University degree in international relations, development studies, international law, or a related

** Experience**
- Minimum one year of experience working in migration and/or development.
- Experience implementing, developing, and/or managing migration capacity building projects,

preferably within inter-agency context, and within the UN system.
** Skills**
- Familiarity with the Global Compact for Migration and functioning of the UN Network on

Migration.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.

**Languages**

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be
fluent in one of the three languages.

For this position, fluency in English and Spanish is required (oral and written). Working
knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, and Russian) is an
advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process,
which may include written and/or oral assessments.

**Notes**

The Consultant will be homebased with a possibility of travelling to Geneva or workshop venue.

The consultant must adhere to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Data
Protection Principles (IN/138) and maintain confidentiality.

The consultant will be responsible to follow IOM writing guidelines and latest glossaries in all

given assignments for accurate translation.
