Molecular Microbiologist

**Research** department

**Your tasks**:

- Mode of action studies using genetic engineering of bacterial / fungal strains
- Development and implementation of cell-based assays for efficient profiling
of new antibiotics and antifungals
- Target validation studies
- Profiling of novel compounds, analysis of results
- Contribute to the expansion of Basilea anti-infectives pipeline through project proposals
- Independently drive own projects to defined milestones
- Responsible for the maintenance and running of a biology lab
- Manage external collaborations
- Documentation of data in Basilea lab notebooks and preparation of method and data summaries
- Present results in group meetings and externally

**Your profile**:

- PhD in microbiology/molecular biology/genetics with an emphasis on the use of genetics to dissect biological phenomena
- Familiar with state-of-the-art technology for genetic engineering of bacteria and/or fungi
- Experience in the fields of antibacterials and antifungals, preferably in industry
- Experience in anti-infective drug discovery is a plus
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, well-organized and structured with excellent analytical skills
- Ability to stay focused and to work according to priorities
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English is essential, German would be beneficial
