- ** Your Role **:You will be working in the innovation unit alongside industry-leading experts to implement advanced mathematical optimization for our Sea Logistics product, bringing our transportation planning capabilities to a new level. Why is that important? A big part of everyday items are transported in shipping containers. Get a front-row seat on this fascinating aspect of global supply chains: learn how goods are loaded into containers, how they are brought to ports, loaded on ships, transported thousands of miles, brought to factories and warehouses inland, and how millions of such transports are coordinated across the globe, in more than 100 countries, for 1000’s of customers. Help us make Sea Logistics more efficient, affordable, and greener by using your mathematical and engineering skills to develop the next-generation routing and optimization capabilities for Kuehne+Nagel.
- ** Your Responsibilities**:

- Support optimization modelling of transport capacity utilization, considering complex constraints and objective functions.
- Adapt existing use cases to new variations.
- Document, educate and explain the models to non-technical partners.

**Your Skills and Experiences**:

- Master student in quantitative discipline (mathematics, operations research, natural science or similar).
- First experience in mixed-integer optimization problems (lecture, thesis, side project).
- First knowledge of toolsets such as Gurobi, CPLEX or other programming suites for mixed integer problems.
- Interest in transport or supply chain optimization.
- Good communication skills, ability to make translate complex mathematical models accessible for non-technical stakeholders.
