**Privacy Counsel**

The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the international organization for public-private cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

**Why we are recruiting**
In this role, you will act as the global contact point for privacy and data protection both internally and externally and will work to ensure compliance of the Forum’s global privacy framework with all applicable Data Protection Laws across Forum offices in Switzerland, USA, China, Japan and India.

**Reporting Lines & Interactions**
You will be part of our Legal & Compliance team, based in Geneva, reporting to the Forum’s Chief Legal Officer. In this role, you will be interacting with all Forum teams and departments, given the importance of privacy and data protection to all areas of the Forum.

**Breakdown of main responsibilities**:

- Continuously review and improve the Forum’s global privacy framework
- Provide data privacy advice to projects/initiatives driven by business teams
- Draft and negotiate agreements in accordance with global privacy requirements; develop consent and other privacy notices and documentations
- Provide legal advice on IT and data related projects
- Carry out Data Protection Impact Assessments
- Draft, review and update privacy notices for Forum websites
- Advise on practical solutions related to cross-border data transfers
- Carry out regular data protection trainings for Forum staff
- Manage communications with Data Protection Authorities
- Managing the Forum’s global privacy framework (policies and processes)
- Increasing privacy and data protection awareness across Forum through trainings
- Ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws, including Swiss law and GDPR

**Preferred Requirements and Experience**:

- Swiss Bachelor’s degree in law
- Master’s degree or other specialization (such as CIPP certification) in privacy preferred
- Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in the privacy domain
- Knowledge of data protection laws and practices, including Swiss law and GDPR
- Fluency (written/verbal) in English required; fluency in French and/or German is a plus
- Ability to work independently with little direction in a complex matrixed organization
- Capacity to prioritize and to provide quick turnaround on urgent matters
- Flexibility and adaptability in work approach
- Calmness and clarity of thought under pressure
- Motivation to create positive working relationships within Legal team and across Forum staff to ensure cross-collaboration with and between all Forum teams and departments
