Postdoctoral Position in Alpine Wildflower Phenology

We are looking for you to fill a two-year postdoctoral position in the Plant Ecology group (Janneke Hille Ris Lambers and Jake Alexander) at ETH Zürich. You will develop a project, in collaboration with Janneke Hille Ris Lambers and Jake Alexander, investigating the impacts of climate change on Alpine wildflower phenology and co-flowering patterns, and the implications of phenological shifts for pollinators, in meadow communities in the Swiss Alps.

The plant ecology research group engages in long-term monitoring efforts, and maintains multi-year data sets and experiments related to climate change impacts on species distributions, wildflower phenology, biological invasions in mountain areas, and microclimate variability. We work in field sites in Switzerland and the USA (Mt. Rainier National Park, Washington State). You will have the opportunity to additionally engage in these and other projects in the lab. **Job description**:
You will have a research background in phenology and plant-pollinator interactions, excellent data science skills, experience with computer vision and machine learning, and a proven ability to manage large field campaigns and data collection. Furthermore, you will work closely and collaboratively with Hille Ris Lambers and Alexander to design and manage field campaigns and analyze data. In addition, You are expected to publish results in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals, present results at conferences and seminars, and contribute to the teaching duties of the Plant Ecology group.

As the research is time-sensitive, a spring start date is preferable.

**Your profile**:

- PhD in ecology (or related)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Evidence of ability to work independently and in teams
- Experience in ecological data analysis tools and approaches, especially machine learning and image analysis
- Commitment to a collegial and inclusive workplace
