JOB PURPOSE: As the CISD Hose & Coupling (H&C) Services Manager, you will lead the development and execution of the growth strategy for H&C Services, ensuring we bring the right products and services to market with our dealers to meet CI customer needs.
H&C products offer significant growth potential as we enable key service value promises of convenience, speed, and ease of doing business while supporting customers’ H&C needs across their entire product portfolio (all makes, all models).
This position manages a work group of Application Specialists and a Manager of a group of Marketing Consultants. The position requires strong execution management, coaching, and people development skills.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop / refine the H&C Services growth strategy - prioritizing elements of short-term execution and longer-term transformation.
- Effectively communicate and drive internal partner and dealer understanding and alignment to the H&C Services strategy.
- Drive alignment around H&C Services targets and priorities with Sales Execution, DSDs, and H&C Product Group.
- Drive alignment with the H&C Product Group on development of products and systems needed to support CI customer needs.
- Ensure New Services Development process is appropriately applied and executed in the development of new services and go-to-market efforts.
- Lead and coach team members in driving alignment with dealers on Definition of Winning and execution follow-up.
- Ensure adequate resources (e.g. people, budget, tools, documentation) are in place to achieve growth goals.
- Evaluate results and effectiveness of strategy and tactics to continuously improve.
- Best Team: create a culture of performance and personal development leading to strong employee engagement.
The position manages a work unit of primarily management/professional employees where monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required as well as training, developing and mentoring. The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.
Typical internal customers include various contacts throughout Caterpillar worldwide and its subsidiaries. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets. The position often confronts complex issues or problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. The incumbent establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control to ensure specific, management goals are met and desired results are achieved.
Basic Requirements:
- 4-year college or university degree
- 13+ years of progressive experience that includes Product Support, Aftermarket/Services Sales, Field Rep Assignments, or Dealer experience in the Product Support business.
- Prior experience managing a team of direct reports.
- Willingness to contribute to Caterpillar’s culture and uphold company core values
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Experience with hydraulics design, sales, or support.
- Experience developing and deploying growth initiatives with dealers /distribution networks.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to engage with all levels of an organization to motivate and enable change
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to relay analytical information clearly to stakeholders
- Ability to manage and resolve conflict and work collaboratively
- Strong leadership skills: ability to coach, mentor and develop talent
