This position is located within the Institutional Memory Section (IMS) of the UN Geneva Library & Archives, Geneva Switzerland.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Records Management Unit and within delegated authority, the Associate Librarian will be responsible for the following duties:

- Provides reference services.
- Reviews a variety of sources to identify appropriate materials that meet the information needs of the Organization and its information clientele.
- Provides complete archival descriptions to be added to the collection.
- Organizes, classifies and describes print and electronic information resources.
- Participates in the creation of electronic and other reference tools, and the compilation of finding aids.
- Participates in ensuring UN archives and records are made available and accessible through established online platforms.
- Monitors the performance of vendors and exchange partners and recommends changes where necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Work Experience

Experience with electronic document and records management systems or archives content management systems is desirable.

Experience with digital preservation systems is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English or French is required, and knowledge of the other is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
