Allschwil, Schweiz Johnson & Johnson Vollzeit

**Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for an Epidemiology Intern to work full-time on a 6 months summer internship onsite in Allschwil, Switzerland.**

At the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, we are working to build a world without disease. Improving lives by finding new and efficient ways to prevent, intercept, treat and cure disease encourages us. We bring together the best minds and pursue the most promising science. We are Janssen. We collaborate with the world for the health of everyone in it.

The Rare Disease Epicenter is set up to develop a generalizable data strategy and framework for various rare diseases to support Real-World Evidence (RWE) generation for safety, regulatory and payor filings, and medical publications. This requires both innovation and focus, whilst working across the Janssen internal RWE groups and the external environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**The Epidemiology Intern will support Rare Disease Epicenter**

A) with identifying and exploring population-based data assets for RWE generation in rare diseases. The specific focus will be non-US Electronic Health Record (EHR) and health insurance claims databases. The intern will extract key database features and variables of interest for a given rare disease and search for information on database accessibility. At the end, the intern will prepare a data landscaping report and present the findings to Janssen RWE teams.

B) with defining rare disease study cohorts, exposures, and outcomes based on combinations of lists of administrative codes (e.g., disease, procedure, and drug codes). The intern will use an automated tool (OHDSI ATLAS) to create the code lists and build the cohorts in different inhouse EHR and health insurance claims databases. This task will require close collaboration with cross-functional study teams.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
Holder of a Master’s Degree or PhD, or student enrolled in an academic Master's or PhD program in epidemiology, public health, statistic, or a related field.

**Experience and Skills**:
**Required**:

**Preferred**:
Experience in clinical research or pharmaceutical industry

Knowledge of different types of population-based healthcare databases

Experience in working with coded healthcare databases

Experience in using statistical programming tools or languages

Knowledge of the OMOP Common Data Model, the OHDSI community, or OHDSI-ATLAS
