Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Policy Communications, the Director, International Policy Communications, develops and advances communications and public affairs strategies that build and protect company reputation, and proactively shape BMS policy initiatives in key markets around the globe.

The Director, International Policy Communications, will be a strategic advisory partner with the International Government Affairs team, including EU Policy and Government Affairs, and the Global Policy, and Global Policy Partnerships teams. The Director will collaborate with teammates in Corporate Communications and interface with other Corporate Affairs colleagues to raise global awareness of policy issues and support the company’s efforts to communicate its policy and enterprise perspectives to policymaker audiences. The Director’s role supports the company’s mission and commitment to serve patients by upholding policy environments that support innovation and access to medicines.

**Key **Responsibilities**:

- Supports global policy communications team in developing and implementing communications and public affairs strategies to support policy initiatives in key international markets, and expand enterprise reach to policymaker audiences.
- Partners to develop and execute programing, campaigns, develop core positions, key messages, educational resources and engagement plans.
- Identifies and develops patient-centered thought leadership opportunities that advance the company’s positions and public policy objectives.
- Supports international Corporate Affairs leads teams to leverage and customize global policy campaigns, materials and deliverables for execution within their priority markets.
- Partners with Corporate Communications and international corporate affairs leads on international policy media relations.
- Develops and refines standards and principles of engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Works with internal partners to track and assess the global public policy environment and its impact on BMS initiatives to inform predictive and proactive preparedness.
- Supports the Senior Director, Global Policy Communications, and Director, U.S. Policy Communications, in executing key policy and public affairs programs—including collaborations with industry trade groups, multistakeholder coalitions and partnerships, and developing informative and compelling resources and briefing materials for internal and external stakeholder audiences.
- Advises key partners in preparation for internal and external engagement opportunities, as aligned with enterprise standards and thought leadership platforms.
- Maintains core narratives, messages, positions, tools, resources and reference materials in support of global policy communications.
- Maintains solid understanding of company’s policy objectives, and awareness of larger Corporate
- Communications plans, activations and thought leadership platform.
- Monitors and considers enterprise-wide environmental and stakeholder movements and needs.
- Provides leadership, advisory support and counsel to business partners. Promotes a high-performance culture aligned with business goals, accountability for results and enhanced development opportunities for greater learning.
- Manages agency partners and corresponding budgets to support international policy communications efforts.

**Qualifications** & **Experience**:

- 10 years of experience in corporate and/or policy communications, public affairs, public policy, or a related field.
- Experience in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries preferred, or a combination of education and professional experience that would provide an equivalent career foundation.
- Working knowledge of government policies that can impact the pharmaceutical industry and keen understanding of what kinds of input can help shape government decisions.
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and counterparts at all levels of the company, both within the Corporate Communications team and across the larger matrixed organization.
- Strong collaborative and teamwork skills.
- Superior written, verbal, editing and interpersonal communications skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Working familiarity with outreach campaign measurement and analytics tools.
- Ability to learn the business quickly and excel in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
