As ICT Researcher you will manage and supervise the implementation of R&D projects, internal and funded by the European Commission (Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, and other programmes and instruments). You will participate to research and development activities, contributing ideas, architectural vision, specifications, reviews, and design/implementation work where appropriate. You are expected to have experience in cooperative technical/scientific work and coordination, or (at a minimum) WP leadership within EC funded projects, as well as in technical writing, more specifically EC proposals writing. In your researcher position, you will contribute to the research and innovation agenda of the company and participate to its growth. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Contribution to and coordination of research and innovation projects.
- Representing Martel in R&D projects, consortia, meetings, events, etc.
- Assisting in the definition of project specifications, involving all relevant stakeholders / teams, and ensuring technical feasibility and resource availability.
- Elaboration of deliverables for the innovation related activities of an R&D project.
- Technical research and innovation work in ICT areas of European relevance, such as Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, or Softwarized Networks.
- Active engagement in business development, as conception and writing of new research proposals; Finding new ideas, calls, partners; Delivery of high-quality presentations at events; Networking; Establishing and maintaining relationships with third parties.
**Qualification, previous experience and background**
- A doctorate or master's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
- Experience in applied research.
- Proven experience in writing successful proposals for EC funded programs.
**Required Skills and Experience**
- Expertise in Technical Management, in academic or commercial settings.
- Ability to negotiate and cooperate with international partners and clients.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
- Technical writing and oral presentation experience.
- Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving capability: from problem to solution design.
- Curiosity to scout and test technologies.
- Skill and experience with Open Source systems and software, as user and contributor.
**Desirable Skills and Experience**
- Strong organisation skills.
- Strong knowledge of the state of the art in Cloud-Edge-IoT solutions and technologies.
- Solid knowledge of softwarized networks (e.g., NFV, SDN, MANO).
- Practical knowledge of Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.
- Knowledge of modern software architecture for distributed systems: e.g., cloud-native systems, swarm computing, Function-as-a-Service.
- Adaptable communication style spanning the ICT spectrum (developers, architects, business leaders, academic researchers, policy makers, etc.)
**Personal Characteristics**
- Able to perform in multi-cultural environments (sometimes under time pressure) and deliver results in a demanding and fast-paced environment, meeting set deadlines.
- Fresh thinking and innovation-friendly spirit.
- Self-driven, responsible, and able to take ownership on projects and duties.
- Ability to travel - mostly in Europe.
