- The Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) is a joint venture between EPFL and ETH Zurich. Its mission is to accelerate the adoption of data science and machine learning techniques within the ETH Domain academic disciplines, the Swiss academic community at large, and the industrial sector. In particular, it addresses the gap between those who create data, those who develop data analytics and systems, and those who could potentially extract value from it. The center comprises a multi-disciplinary team of data and computer scientists, and experts in select domains with offices in Zürich, Lausanne, and Villigen.

**Security Expert**:
**Your mission**:

- We are looking for a highly skilled security expert with a passion for protecting sensitive data to join our team in Lausanne. You will make an impact on the Swiss data ecosystem by joining collaborative SDSC projects to develop security-based solutions for sensitive data.
- This role sits in the Open Research Data (ORD) Engagement and Services team within the SDSC, which aims to support, encourage and inspire ORD practices across research communities in academia, industry, and beyond. You will participate in collaborative projects involving clinical and research partners to design and implement security measures.

**Main duties and responsibilities include**:

- In tight interaction with project teams, you will develop and implement security protocols to protect privacy-sensitive data from unauthorized access, leakage, or inference. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate safeguards for highly sensitive input and output data with a high potential for harm.
- You will develop system components to monitor and assess security risks for ML models and their dependencies and prevent vulnerabilities. You will also build features to manage access control to authorized parties and algorithms through a dynamic contract-based decision system, ensuring compliance with security protocols and policies.
- You will collaborate with other team members and external experts to identify and resolve potential security threats or vulnerabilities and ensure that the SDSC platforms are secure and comply with industry standards and regulations.
- You stay up-to-date with industry best practices and trends in data security and incorporate relevant knowledge into security protocols and policies.

**Your profile**:

- You have a strong data security background, acquired either through a Ph.D or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field or work experience.
- You have solid skills in programming (bonus points for Go or Python) and scripting with basic knowledge of Unix commands.
- To be successful in this role, you should have a deep understanding of security protocols and standards, including cryptography, authentication, and access control.
- You enjoy threat modeling and expertly handling risk assessment techniques.
- We also value previous experience with data recovery plans, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and security frameworks. Privacy-enhancing technologies such as anonymous communication networks, zero-knowledge proofs, and secure multi-party computation are your passion
- You should also be familiar with the challenges and risks associated with working with sensitive data and have experience working with ML models and algorithms.
- Experience in the healthcare industry is a strong plus. Finally, you can communicate your ideas clearly and succinctly to a diverse audience (in English, with bonus points for French or German).
